Couples Intensive Workshops

Built around your relationship, not a fixed format

Every relationship is different, and we believe your intensive should be too. When you work with us, we don't drop you into a one size fits all format. We build your intensive around your relationship, your history, and the specific issues the two of you are ready to work through.

Before we ever sit down together for the intensive itself, we take time to understand where things stand right now: what brought you here, what's been tried before, and what you're hoping to walk away with. Then we design the experience around that, not a generic template, but something built for you.

Most intensives take place over 2 to 3 days, for a total of about 12 to 15 hours. The time can be adjusted based on what your relationship needs. Having this dedicated time allows us to go deeper than we can in a weekly session and spend more time on the areas that need the most attention, rather than trying to fit everything into a single hour.

We want to be clear about what this isn't. This isn't weekly therapy just stretched out longer. It's a focused, personal experience we create specifically around the two of you and what you need right now.

Why Couples Choose Us

Coping gets you through the week. It doesn't get you to the other side of what's actually wrong. If what you're after is real clarity and change that holds, that's the work we specialize in.

We've spent more than three decades doing this work, and that experience shows up in two ways: in the skill we bring to the room, and in the discretion we bring to every relationship we're trusted with. We've trained extensively across several therapeutic approaches, so we're not limited to a single method when your relationship needs something different. That range matters most with the hardest cases, infidelity, trauma, and addiction, situations that go beyond what a general couples therapist is trained to handle.

Much of our practice is built around clients who have as much at stake professionally as they do personally: physicians, attorneys, executives, public figures, and others who need this work handled with real privacy. They come to us because results matter and so does discretion.

Every intensive is shaped around the couple in front of us. We draw from several modalities at once, along with mindfulness-based practices, to help both partners settle their nervous systems, repair broken trust, and find their way back to each other, not just as problem-solvers, but as two people genuinely present and committed to what they're building.

Whats included in your Intensive

A couples intensive is a 2-3 day, high impact experience that compresses months of weekly sessions into just a few focused days.

We work from multiple modalites, including the Gottman Method, a research-based framework with a strong track record of helping couples create lasting change. Over your time with us, you'll receive:

  • A tailored assessment of your relationship dynamics
  • Individual and joint sessions that uncover the patterns beneath your conflict
  • Practical tools for communication, conflict resolution, and intimacy
  • A clear plan for maintaining progress long after the intensive ends

This is a private, concierge-level experience, built exclusively around you and your partner.

Who are Intensive Couples Workshops for?

We work with couples who are motivated and genuinely committed to restoring, strengthening, or deepening their relationship. You don't have to be in crisis to be a good fit. Some couples come to us because things are hard and they know something has to change. Others come because their relationship matters to them, and they want to invest in it before small problems grow into bigger ones.

Here's what we ask of you: both partners willing to look honestly at their own part in what's happening, have conversations that might be uncomfortable, actually listen to the other's experience even when it's hard to hear, and stay open to doing things differently.

You don't need to walk in with a plan for how to fix things. You just need to walk in willing to work on it.

An intensive can give us a strong starting point, or move work you've already begun forward. But it isn't a replacement for what comes after. What you do with what we uncover, on your own and together, is where the lasting change actually happens.

What the time gives you

We give you room a fifty-minute session never can. Time to talk in depth about what's actually been hard, without watching the clock. Time to process old injuries that have never fully healed, and to understand how they've shaped the relationship you have today. Time to learn new ways of communicating, and to actually practice them together so the conversations you have afterward go differently than the ones that brought you here. There's time to rebuild.

Throughout, we hold a space that feels safe for both of you. You'll be treated with dignity and respect, without judgment, from start to finish. Couples who've done this work often describe it as life-changing, something that shifted the whole course of their relationship.

What to be prepared for

We want you to go in with your eyes open. Because an intensive moves faster and goes deeper than weekly sessions do, it can also move you more quickly into the areas that are hardest to face. It's common for one or both of you to feel sadness, guilt, anxiety, anger, loneliness, or helplessness at points during the work. We may also ask you to revisit parts of your history, together and individually, that aren't easy to sit with.

We don't say this to discourage you. We say it because we want you to feel prepared, not blindsided, and to know that these feelings are a normal part of doing work this honest.

The Investment

What an intensive costs depends on the number of hours you and your therapist decide are right for your situation, no two are priced exactly the same. That cost covers more than the time you spend together in the room. It also covers the work your therapist puts in beforehand, reviewing your history and building a program designed specifically around the two of you, not a template pulled off a shelf.

We think of this as an investment in your relationship, not simply a service you're purchasing. For many couples, it's the thing that changes the direction of a marriage that felt like it was headed toward divorce. When you weigh the cost, it's worth weighing it against what's actually at stake.

Couples Intensive Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if we reach out and an intensive isn't the right fit right now?

We'll be honest with you about why, and we'll help point you toward the kind of support that makes more sense first, whether that's individual therapy, addiction treatment, or a higher level of care. An intensive can often become the right step later, once that foundation is in place.

Do we need to already be working with a couples therapist to do an intensive?

No. Some couples come to us with no history of couples therapy at all, and the intensive becomes the place we start. Others are already working with one of our therapist's or someone else, and the intensive gives that work a concentrated boost. Either way, we build the intensive around where you actually are.

What happens once the intensive is over?

The intensive gives you momentum and a clearer picture of what's going on between you, but the work doesn't end when it does. We'll talk with you about what ongoing support looks like, whether that's continuing with your existing therapist, starting weekly sessions with us, or putting what you've learned into practice on your own for a while.

Do both of us need to be present for the entire intensive

Yes, for the most part. The format is built around both of you being together for the full stretch of time, though we may also spend some individual time with each of you along the way. That combination is part of what makes this kind of progress possible in such a condensed timeframe.

A few situations we'd want to talk through first

Before we build an intensive together, there are some situations where we want a direct conversation with you first, so we can figure out together whether an intensive is the right starting point, or whether something else needs attention before this kind of work can help.

Reach out before booking if any of the following currently describe your relationship:

  • Either partner is dealing with active alcohol or drug addiction, whether that's how you see it or how your partner sees it
  • There's serious violence in the relationship, threats that serious violence could happen, or one of you is afraid it might
  • Either partner has an untreated major mental illness, such as schizophrenia, recurring psychotic depression, or bipolar disorder (this doesn't include past episodes that were successfully treated, like postpartum depression with psychosis)
  • There's a current affair one of you isn't ready to disclose, since a secret like this tends to work against the therapy succeeding
  • There's an ongoing affair and the partner involved isn't willing to end it
  • Either partner is currently having thoughts of suicide or of harming someone else, or has a history of seriously harming themselves or another person

None of these mean an intensive is off the table for good. They mean we need to talk first, so we can point you toward the right kind of support, whether that ends up being this format or something else.

Ready to talk about your Intensive?

We'll start with a conversation about where things stand and what you're hoping for, then build a plan from there.
